An interactive linear piece turning music into light. Slant zig-zags across time and space.
This project was shown at an event with Brouhaha @ Club Waziema (6/29/14). Some previous code was recycled, but many new patterns were coded to make use of the linear and slanted motifs. Color and saturation are manipulated to accentuate the slanted lines and alter the perceived form, so that dynamic nature is produced from static form.

An interactive radial piece turning music into light. Looking into Radius is like getting LED hypnosis.
This project was shown at an event with Brouhaha @ Club Waziema (5/30/14). Some previous code was recycled, but many new patterns were coded to make use of the circular motif. Color and saturation are manipulated to accentuate the radial lines and alter the perceived form, so that dynamic nature is produced from static form.
An interactive wall piece crossing the bridge between projection mapping and LED structures. Hexangle also is my first project allowing for user control.
This project was a collaboration between Zhuminous & Upward Spiral to synergize projection and LED technology into a cohesive, interactive art piece. The piece was revealed through Brouhaha @ Club Waziema (3/29/14). Words don't do this justice - just watch the video

An interactive wall piece turning music into light. Crossagon is for eyes, as speakers are for ears.
This project started as a study of intersecting joints in carpentry, and turned into a full-fledged art piece for Brouhaha @ Club Waziema (2/22/14). Some previous code was recycled, but many new patterns were coded to make use of interesting geometrical shapes & perspectives. Color and saturation are manipulated to accentuate particular lines and alter the perceived form, so that dynamic nature is produced from static form.

Shimmering diamonds in the rough
Recycling components of hypnomoth into a more general-purpose jewel structure. Also added a hinge component to allow folding of the pieces for easier transport. Debut at a private Beats Music launch party (2/1/14)

All glory to the hypnomoth
A project combining many previous elements into a larger, performance oriented lightshow piece. Geometrical shapes were used to compose a neon moth for the takeover of Mother Records with Brouhaha @ Club Waziema (1/24/14). Hypnomoth worked all night pulling mp3/voltage waveforms from the mixing booth's record line out to provide an interactive visual experience.

A boxy spiral
Experiment with unconventional geometrical shapes in carpentry, and with weaving spiral perspectives / repeating shapes. The result is a pinwheel-like structure combining wood, metal, string, and LEDs. Recycling of mostly old code, but customized to take advantage of radial symmetry. Almost reminds me of a galaxy..

Geometric dreamcatcher
Revisiting the use of weave to create line work. Added improvements to weave tautness and stability when integrating with wood, and also experimented with joining acute angles in carpentry. Equilateral triangle with a string dreamcatcher-like weave in between. The first piece to completely hide LEDs from view and produce a backlit effect. The use of indirect instead of direct illumination turned out nicely and helps prevent LEDs from being too bright.
Functions as an ambient wall piece, and also visually interprets musical input

3 little windows of light
A project improving design principles incorporating wood & plexiglass. Similar concepts to Hexagon but with improvements in perceived motion and efficiency of LED usage. Also added code to utilize the geometrical freedom provided by 3 separate but linked windows.
